NSW: Strike cancels Manly ferries tomorrow morning
Commuters on Sydney's Manly ferry services will have to travel by other means tomorrowmorning after a maritime union called a 24-hour ban on services.
But the 24-hour ban could be cut short by a noon hearing in the Australian IndustrialRelations Commission.
A spokesman for State Transit says industrial action was flagged by the AustralianInstitute of Marine and Power Engineers after talks on a new enterprise agreement brokedown yesterday.
State Transit says it will be asking the commission for a ban on further strike actionuntil the end of the negotiating process.
In the meantime, State Transit has organised a fleet of buses to operate to and fromManly and Circular Quay for the duration of the action.
