Why is the BRT a better option than using our trains more? ; Letters

Here is a re-cap for those who just tuned into the transportdebate.

The B&NES' proposal is to ignore our original 'rapid transit'routes (our railways) and replace them with something less modernand half the speed - namely the Bus Rapid Transit (the BRT).

The "logic" for proposing the BRT must therefore be ... 1) Busesare faster than trains. 2) Buses carry more people than trains.

3) Buses have heavy freight capacity.

4) People will come as a tourist to see the bus-road.

5) Destroying half the greenery will help us reduce CO2emissions.
