PINE BUSH EXPERT URGES LAND BUY SAYS FURTHER STUDY WASTE OF TIME.(Local)

As the city of Albany prepares to take another look at the shortcomings in its $100,000 environmental review of the Pine Bush, an expert on its ecology said the effort is a waste of time.

John F. Cryan, the author of papers which led to the designation of the Pine Bush Karner blue butterfly as an endangered species, said documentation exists showing the pine barrens have been overdeveloped and cannot handle any more building.

"They've rammed too much in already," Cryan said Tuesday, terming the city's plans for more research "crazy." "They should buy it and that would be the end of the matter."
